Canggu Fitness guide

Canggu is the "it" place for health and fitness, and to make the search for the perfect active holiday easier I have listed my favorite gems to train. These places keep me motivated to stay active every day in paradise.

Staying fit on a holiday is always a challenge; its hot, you feel less energized (this being from the heat but also for the cocktails you drank last night), and you don´t really know where to go. Having lived in Canggu for about 4 months, I have tried everything there is to try when it comes to fitness. Canggu has lots to offer, and there is something for everyone and all levels.

Bali Fit:
This stylish and open air gym offers hard core training. Their trainers are well educated and professional, advising on technique while also motivating the athletes. Try the Training for Warriors to for a whole body circuit training, or the many (and innovative) yoga classes upstairs in their beautiful yoga shala. Hot tip: the Hulk smoothie for refueling those muscles after a workout at the healthy Bali Fit Café.

S2S Crossfit:

Bali´s first Crossfit box offers a great community and excellent coaching. Being new to crossfit they have taught me everything I know, and with their hard core programming you safely learn (if you want to or not) all the technical lifting of crossfit. If you´re an early bird and like the sunrise training in the morning, or you like younger crowd in the afternoon, S2S welcomes all levels.

Avenue Fitness Canggu:

The new addition to the gym family is the Avenue Fitness. This inexpensive gym offers classes as well as a newly equipped studio. The staff is super friendly an helpful, and the juice bar offers tasty protein shakes for post workout fuel. Try the Pump class with Bobby for a fun and sweaty full body workout.

2beFit Bali:

Whats better than to to workout on the beach when in Bali? The locally owned beach bootcamp offers three morning workouts a week. Here you get to train with barbells made of sticks and sandbags, tires, ropes and ofcourse - your own body weight. Get ready to sweat as it does get hot (you get a tan while working out, how great is that?!). The best part? Going for a dip in the ocean and free watermelon after each session.

Desa Seni:

You can´t stay in Bali without practicing yoga. There are plenty of shalas to choose from in Canggu, but my favorite is the hidden gem of Desa Seni. The scene is absolutely stunning, with botanical gardens surrounding the shala. My choice: Vinyasa flow with Bernd, a 90 minute mind, body and soul practice.

Happy training everyone!
